Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy

Constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT) includes limiting the unaffected arm to promote use of the affected arm in hemiparesis following stroke or neurological trauma. Therapy consists of repetitive, task-specific activity. Physiatrists and physical therapists individualize programs for patients. CIMT enhances motor control, functional independence, and neuroplasticity, maximizing overall recovery rates.
