Functional Capacity Evaluation

Functional capacity evaluation (FCE) is the assessment of a patient's capacity to perform activities of daily living, work tasks, and functional objectives. FCE directs rehabilitation planning and return-to-work planning. FCE is performed by physiatrists and therapists with the purpose of ensuring safe, tailored interventions. Objective measurement enhances rehabilitation outcomes, enhances patient independence, and guides vocational planning.
